Ondo police arrest 3 ‘One chance’ serial taxi robbers

The police in Ondo State have arrested in Akure three suspected notorious serial taxi robbers, popularly called ‘One chance.’

According to a statement by the police spokeswoman in the state, SP Funmilayo Odunlami: “On 16th of April, 2022, at about 1735hrs along roadblock Benin/Owo/Ilesha expressway, Akure, Two (2) ladies (names with held) boarded a taxi and one of them was robbed of her Infinix Smart 5 phone while on motion and told to alight alongside the road as the Car was no longer going their way.

The case was reported to the Police and through intelligence gathering”

The statement said the three suspects (names withheld), who are aged between 32 and 42, were arrested.

It added: “A Taxi with registration number BDR 743 XA and one stolen Itel Android phone was also recovered from them.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to be serial robbers whose area of specialty was using taxi to rob unsuspecting citizens who board their vehicle within the State and rob them of their phones and other valuables.

“The suspects will soon be arraigned in court.”
