- Party, Aiyedatiwa mourn
The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo State, Hon Fatai Adams, has passed on.
This was confirmed in a statement on Wednesday by the party’s state spokesman, Hon Kennedy Ikantu Peretei.
According to the statement titled “Ondo PDP Mourns State Chairman, Fatai Adams”: “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ondo State Chapter wishes to express our shock and devastation over the demise of Hon. Fatai Adams, whose death occurred this morning at a private hospital in Akure after a brief illness.
“His transition at this trying time of the party is not only sad but traumatic. The State Working Committee (SWC) of the party has declared a three-day mourning period. Party flags are to fly at half mast and all party Secretariats shut for the period across the state.
“Hon. Fatai Adams was a Member of the Ondo State House of Assembly (2007-2011). He was elected State Chairman in August 2020. He also served as Deputy State Chairman of the PDP in Ondo State.
“Our party commiserates with his family and the Ondo State PDP at large.
“May Almighty Allah grant him Al Jannah Firdaus.”
Reacting in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, commiserated with the PDP leadership and members in the state over the passage of their Chairman.
He said: “The Governor describes the late Adams as a complete gentleman who as a leader of opposition in the State played politics without bitterness and as a member of the State House of Assembly contributed his quota to the development of the State.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa describes the death of Adams as a great loss to the political family, the people of Irun Akoko, Akoko North West, and Ondo State.
“The Governor commiserates with his family and prays for God to grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.”
Adams was suspended as state chairman by the party’s State Working Committee last month for alleged anti-party activities.
