The Ondo state edition of the Small Micro and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) Clinic, has got underway at the International Events Center, also known as the Dome in Akure.
The event which is a prelude to the official launch by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo tomorrow (thursday) featured several interactive sessions on how to get access to fund opportunities by small and medium scale enterprises.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu represented by his deputy, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, Special Assistant to the Vice President on MSMEs, Tola Johnson, the Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Ifedayo Abegunde, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public and Intergovernmental Relations, Olubunmi Ademosu and the Senior Special assistant to the Ondo state governor on Research and Documentation, as well as Chairman of OSRC/Orange Fm, Kunle Adebayo were some of the dignitaries at the event.
Also present were relevant goverment agencies like the Industrial Training Fund, SMEDAN, Standard Organization of Nigerian, NAFDAC, Nigeria Export Promotion Council among others who enlightened the participants on numerous opportunities to boost their businesses as well as way out of challenges militating against their growth.
Special adviser to Governor Akeredolu on Public and Intergovernmental Relations, Olubummi Ademosu said the clinic is the most ambitious initiative by any government to reposition micro, small and medium scale enterprises in Nigeria.
She said the Ondo state government has put in place all the required structures and processes that would ensure the success of the programme with a target of about 10,000 beneficiaries.
Special Assistant to the Vice President on MSMEs, Tola Johnson said the Clinic is an initiative of the office of the Vice President in partnership with Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment as well as eleven other federal agencies.
He said the clinic will bring together MSMEs and relevant federal government agencies to discuss ease of doing business for greater economic productivity.
Johnson advised the people of the state to massively key into the programme for their economic prosperity.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who was represented at the event by his Deputy, Hon. Agboola Ajayi appreciated the Buhari led government for bringing the clinic to the state.
He explained that the clinic will also help harness the macroeconomic potentials and job opportunities in the digital age and creative industry.
Akeredolu promised the necessary support of the state government for the project for more economic development in the state.
Speaking to www.orangefm.com.ng at one of the exhibition stands, Chairman of the Ondo State Board of Internal Revenue BIR, Tolu Adegbie said the initiative will speed up development process in the state.
He reiterated that the board’s mission at the event was to intimate people on activities of the BIR, how they could access the agency and perform their civic responsibility of tax payment without any stress.
He urged people of the state to key into the initiative as it will increase the state’s internally generated funds.
