Workers and pensioners in the service of the Ondo State government have been paid salary and pension for the month of June.
This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Yemi Olowolabi.
According to the statement: “The state government wishes to thank its workers for their understanding over the delay in the payment of the June Salary.
“For a state that is noted for prompt payment of salaries, it is important to explain here that the delay in the payment of June salary was as a result of series of deadlocks in the meeting of the Federal Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) because of the discrepancies in the figures presented by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to the committee.
“The salaries were paid as soon as the impasse was resolved and the Allocations were disbursed to the states.
“Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, is committed to keeping his promise with the state workforce to make their welfare a priority and to ensure that salaries are paid on due dates.
“The governor appreciates the workers for their continued understanding and support.”
