Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the recruitment of 1,100 primary school teachers to fill up the existing vacancies statewide.
Already, the State Universal Basic Education Board (ODSUBEB), has employed the new teachers.
This followed the recruitment recently of 1,000 secondary school teachers for the same purpose of filling the gaps in secondary schools statewide; thus bringing the total number of teachers employed recently by the state government to 2,110.
Besides, the governor has promised to fill up all the vacant teaching staff positions statewide to combat the acute shortages adversely affecting education in public schools in the State.
In his reaction to the development, ODSUBEB Executive Chairman, Rt. Hon. Victor Olambitan, appreciated the Governor for approving the recruitment.
He said the employment aimed at addressing gaps and shortfalls created by workers leaving the Public Service.
Olabimtan said the employment will go a long way to improve Pupils -Teachers’ Ratio in the Public Primary Schools and improve the quality of education delivered in schools, especially in rural and hard to reach areas across the State.
