The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who is also the incumbent Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election.
The Returning Officer for the election, Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, who is also the vice-chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State, made the announcement on Sunday during the state collation exercise by the electoral body.
According to the official results, Aiyedatiwa won the election with a total of 366, 781 votes, defeating his closest rival, Hon Alfred Agboola Ajayi, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who secured 117, 845.
The Labour Party (LP) and the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) polled 1,162 and 2,692 votes, respectively.
Aiyedatiwa won in all the state’s 18 local government areas announced by INEC.
