The new Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Ondo State Governor on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Hon. Tomide Akinribido, has challenged the Management and staff of the State Information Technology Agency (SITA) to get ready for the speedy digital transformation of the state.
A statement by the agency’s spokesman, Mr. Sola Obagbemisoye, said Akinribido expressed Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s vision of making the state’s economy ICT-driven in his maiden address to the staff.
His words: “The digital transformation agenda of the present administration is to apply digital technology solutions to propel social services. Our Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is 21st century ICT compliant. He wants all government processes to be faster and more efficient. Therefore, we cannot afford to fail him as an agency”.
According to the former Ondo State House of Assembly member, digital governance is not only to prevent or mitigate cyber crime but to promote accountability, and seamless governance and foster economic opportunities for the citizens. He highlighted the desire of the Governor to support the tech sector in the state to create thousands of employment opportunities for young people.
He at this point called on the staff to key into the state government’s vision, which aims to put Ondo state at the forefront of technologically advanced subregional areas in Africa.
Welcoming the new SSA, the Permanent Secretary of the Agency, Dr. (Mrs) Folukemi Aladenola described the staff as thorough professionals and hard-working individuals working towards achieving the government’s objectives.
She expressed the readiness of the management and staff of the Agency to cooperate with him and key into the government’s ICT policy to put the state on the digital super highway.
