Ondo donates 17 vehicles to security agencies

Ondo State Government has given 17 new patrol vehicles to security agencies in the state to enhance security protection for lives and property in the state .

While distributing the vehicles to the agencies in his office, Governor Arakunrin Oluwarotimi  Akeredolu, SAN, assured that his administration would continue to do its utmost at guaranteeing adequate security across the state.

A statement by the Governor’s media aide, Mr Bode Akinwumi, said the Governor called for more  collaboration by stakeholders, particularly at this time investors are being attracted to the State.

He said all hands must be on deck to ensure that the gains of the recent past against criminals are sustained.

He appreciated all security agencies in the state for their efforts at curtailing kidnapping, armed robbery and other criminal acts prevalent in the state recently.
According to the statement: Akeredolu believed constant patrols across the state would scare off hoodlums from the and as such advised that the security agencies should scale it up.

The governor also instructed security agencies in the state to arrest anyone caught defacing any poster in the state. 

He explained that some petty things could be resolved with patrols, and urged the security agencies to increase patrols and surveillance in the state. 

Akeredolu said: “Somebody came to me that people are defacing other people’s posters, not necessarily All Progressives Congress (APC) posters. You can arrest them. If they know that your patrol is on the road, they will be afraid.”  

Distribution of the vehicles to the Heads of the Security Agencies is as follows: five to the Police; three to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp; three to the Army ; two to the State Security Service; one to the Navy; one each to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and Special Protection Unit, both of the Nigeria Police; and one to the Legion.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the Commissioner of Police , Mr Gbenga Adeyanju appreciated the commitment of the State Government to the entrenchment of a sustainable security architecture in Ondo State.

The CP who said that the patrol vehicles would enhance the operational capacity of security agencies at keeping Ondo State safe for all legitimate activities, assured tough times for criminals in the state.

The state government had earlier donated five patrol vehicles to the state Police Command  late last year.
