Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa
The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State has slammed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for allegedly attacking Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa
A statement by Mr. Steve Otaloro, APC
Director, Media & Publicity, faulted PDP’s assessment of the governor’s performance as inaccurate and inflaming.
It was titled, “Facts, Not Fake News- APC Rebukes PDP’s Spurious Attacks on Governor Aiyedatiwa.”
According to the statement, “The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ondo State, firmly repudiates the recent spate of politically-motivated insinuations advanced by Mr. Dupe Aisida, PDP Chairman in Ondo State against Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
“These spurious claims seek to inflame sentiment rather than interrogate reality; the people of Ondo are discerning and will judge governance by tangible results, not by calumny.
“While national and global economic pressures affect all Nigerians and are being seriously addressed by the federal government, with economic metrics indicating growth and stability, Governor Aiyedatiwa has moved swiftly to alleviate hardship in the state through targeted palliatives, support for small and medium enterprises, farmer-empowerment initiatives, and market-stabilising interventions that protect vulnerable households. His administration remains committed to pragmatic policies that generate employment, increase incomes, and strengthen livelihoods.
“Accusations of “cosmetic” governance betray a lack of appreciation for substantive programmes presently underway. The government has prioritised measurable investments in health, education, security, agriculture and infrastructure: clinics are being rehabilitated, schools supported, extension services reaching farmers, and contractors engaged on bona fide projects across the state.
“Claims that Akure and statewide roads are uniformly neglected ignore the various ongoing road construction, rehabilitation, maintenance and sanitation works underway. Works of this magnitude necessitate time and sustained commitment; where specific, verifiable instances of neglect exist, we invite them to be presented for immediate action.
“Provision of official accommodation for certain officeholders is prudent public policy aimed at safeguarding public funds and ensuring effective governance; this does not detract from the Governor’s support for affordable housing schemes and public–private partnerships to expand access for ordinary citizens.
“The APC rejects insinuations of opacity. All projects and procurements comply with extant laws and legislative oversight. We welcome independent audits and urge the PDP, if it alleges irregularities, to present credible evidence to oversight bodies or before the people for public scrutiny rather than trade in innuendo.
“We commend the PDP for acknowledging the positive step of recruiting teachers; however, the party’s attempt to build a narrative around “fake appointment letters” and alleged extortion is irresponsible without substantiation. Any verified cases of fake appointment letters or extortion will be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted. A verification mechanism is in place, and suspected malpractice should be reported through official channels.
“We endorse accountability and call for constructive, evidence‑based engagement. Rather than peddling baseless allegations, the opposition should join hands in advancing Ondo’s development. The APC will remain focused on transparent, results‑driven governance for the benefit of all citizens.”
