Advanced People’s Democratic Alliance (APDA) Ondo State chapter, has inaugurated a new interim caretaker committee.

Those inaugurated at the event which was attended by members of the party across the 18 local governments of the state are Princess Tennyson Akinfolarin, Chairman, Dr. Adebayo Famakinwa, Secretary, and Alhaja Fasilatu Gali, Treasurer.

Speaking at the occasion, a leader of the party in the state, Chief Fola Akinfe, flanked by other notable leaders, said the reconstitution of new interim officers is part of the move by the national leaders of the party under the leadership of Mallam Shittu Mohammed, to reposition the Ondo state chapter of the party for efficiency, transparency and accountability ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Akinfe, who explained that the inauguration of new interim officers was also made possible following the defection of the former interim officers of the party to the African Democratic Alliance (ADP) and Labour Party (LP).

He described APDA as a political party that started with a strong foundation, the development which he said has made it a bride for all politicians in Ondo state and Nigeria in general.

He lamented what he called lack-luster and unwholesome activities of the immediate past interim state officers of the APDA in the last few months in the state, which he described as worrisome.

The APDA chieftain explained that the committed and loyal members of the party can no longer wait endlessly for the so-called defected interim state officers to come back to the party, the move which he said prompted the national officers of the party to organise the replacement of the interim state officers.

He said: “They engaged in anti-party activities where they held several nocturnal and nefarious meetings as well as unwholesome romance with other political parties. They equally accused Ondo State representative in the APDA south-west executive of not giving them information as one of the reasons for leaving our party.

“They equally lamented that they are dumping APDA because our party has no sponsor. An indication that they were after money. These so-called interim state officers called several meetings on their defection to other political parties recently and vowed never to enter the APDA state party secretariat and would have nothing to do with the party as a whole.

“In view of the above with other reasons too numerous to mention here, we the concerned members of APDA Ondo state chapter hereby state categorically that it would not be too hard-hearted for us to label them as betrayers of trust entrusted in their care by members of APDA Ondo state chapter, we therefore resolved that we recognise our dynamic, tireless and indefatigable National Chairman, Mallam Shitu Mohammed.”

Speaking on behalf of the new interim caretaker officers, the Chairman of the Interim Committee, Princess Tennyson Akinfolarin thanked members of the party over their efforts at repositioning the party for efficiency.

While promising to work assiduously and bring back what she called the lost glory of the party, she equally vowed not to betray the confidence reposed in her and work for the success of the party during the 2019 general elections.

She solicited for the support of other members of the party, saying the move would enable her achieve the purpose for which she was chosen as the chairman of the interim caretaker committee of the party.

Akinfolarin equally urged members of the party to go back to their respective local governments and begin their meetings and mobilise new members to the party, saying the move would make the party to be more popular in the state.

She declared her intention to constitute a reconciliation committee both at the state and local government levels in no distant time, noting that the move would enable the party to reach out to members who have dumped the party to other political parties, during the period of the immediate past executive members of the party.
