The absence of All Progressives Congress leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and former National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, at the grand finale of the APC Campaign Rally held in Akure on Wednesday, has raised concern among the party’s leadership and members.
At least, 15 governors on the party’s platform were introduced by the Master of Ceremonies at the event which was broadcast live on a private television station.
They included Governors Kayode Fayemi, of Ekiti State; Gboyega Oyetola, Osun; Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Lagos; Nasir el-Rufai, Kaduna; Yahaya Bello, Kogi; Hope Uzodinma, Imo; Aminu Masari, Katsina; Atiku Bagudu, Kebbi; Sani Bello, Niger; Prof. Babagana Zulum, Borno; Mai Mala Buni, Yobe; Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman, Kwara; Badaru Abubakar, Jigawa; Abdullahi Ganduje, Kano; Muhammad Yahaya, Gombe; and Simon Lalong, Plateau.
Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Emmanuel Akabe; former Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State and serving ministers and senators were also present.
Tinubu had on September 5, 2020, alongside a former Governor of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande; visited Akure to help launch Akeredolu’s re-election campaign.
The APC leader was actively involved in the September 19, 2020, Edo State governorship election, which the APC candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, lost.
A few days before the election, Tinubu published a video calling on the people of the state to reject Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples Democratic Party at the polls. However, the move failed.
Following the defeat of the APC in Edo State, Tinubu has adopted a more tacit approach in Ondo State.
