Omoluabi Progressives, led by Alhaji Issa Adesiji Azeez, has congratulated former Interior minister and ex-Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on his confirmation as the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) in Abuja.
The group described the ratification as a personal triumph for Aregbesola, and a bold reaffirmation of his enduring relevance, strength of character, and unwavering commitment to progressive politics in Nigeria.
In a statement by Mr Abosede Busayo Oluwaseun Organizing and Publicity Secretary, the group said It is also a resounding response to critics and detractors who once doubted his resilience and mocked his political trajectory with fanfare and fanfare.
According to the statement, “Not long ago, some declared that he (Aregbesola) would not be able to return to Osun State within six months, even going as far as staging a symbolic coffin in Lagos to ridicule his legacy.
“Today, the same movement they tried to bury has risen stronger—rooted in conviction, not convenience.
“The ADC, which many dismissed at inception, has grown into a credible alternative — a platform driven by collective leadership, grassroots empowerment, and a shared vision for a better Nigeria.
“Ogbeni’s emergence as National Secretary signals a new phase of principled leadership, strategic mobilisation, and renewed hope for millions across the country.
“As we celebrate this milestone, we urge Nigerians to remain vigilant and politically active.
“The current administration has continued to implement policies devoid of compassion, pushing ordinary citizens deeper into hardship. It is time to mobilize for meaningful change.
“We therefore call on all Nigerians to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ready. The power to change the nation lies in the ballot. Let us vote for empathy, vision, and people-centred governance.
” To our members and supporters, we reiterate our commitment to peaceful and issue-based advocacy.
“Unlike the ruling establishment that thrives on intimidation and divisive politics, we will continue to uphold the values of decorum, discipline, and democratic engagement.
“Let us keep reminding our fellow citizens: our past was better than our present, and without action, our future may grow even darker.
“Now is the time to rescue the children of the forgotten and begin the long-overdue journey toward a fairer, more inclusive society.”
It said that “ADC remains open to all Nigerians of goodwill who are ready to rebuild this country on the foundation of justice, equity, and unity. A new Nigeria is not just possible — it is within our grasp.”
