The deceased representative of Akure South/Akure North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Adedayo Omolafe had an uncommon passion to help the needy people whenever they sought his help, his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has said.
A statement by the Secretary of its Akure South Local Government South Chapter, S A Ogedengbe, the party said that it is devastated, saddened, heartbroken and shocked over the politician’s sudden departure in the early hour of Monday.
It said: “Our party is yet to recover from this inconsolable and highly sorrowful incident. It is indeed a huge tragedy and disaster which has befallen not only the PDP but our entire state and Akure in particular.
Hon. Adedayo Omolafe aka *Expensive* was a finest gentle man who developed uncommon and great passion towards the upliftment of the downtroddens, a highly resourceful leader, an excellent lawmaker, exemplary democrat, amazing political mobiliser and core grassroots man whose footprints within the shortest time he was with us would remain indelible in the hearts of generations.
He was a very humble and detribalised political leader who spent his entire life in immeasurable sacrifices towards the unity, progress, development and prosperity of Akure South/North Federal Constituency and its environs; a progressively minded politician who cut across all lines or borders.
The party recalls the numerous contributions made by Expensive, who brought his deep love for the people of his Constituency as well as his philanthropic experiences to bear in the House of Representatives where he served as Deputy Chairman House Committee on Poverty Alleviation.
Hon. Adedayo Omolafe, Expensive, was a household name in Ondo politics, he was a strong pillar of the PDP not only in Akure but, entire state and our party will never forget his commitments, contributions and sacrifices to ensure the success, progress and growth of the PDP at all levels.
In his lifetime, Expensive was a good, humble, simple and God-fearing man, who spared nothing to ensure the well-being and happiness of others above personal pursuits and even at the expense of his comfort.
His sudden demise at this time when PDP is still trying to put itself together after a devastating judgment of the Supreme Court is indeed a big blow to our party and major setback to its wheel of progress; but we take solace in the fact that he lived a fulfilled life and made impact in his endeavour as a political figure.
The vacuum created as a result of this very shocking incident will be too difficult to fill, coming at a time when people of his Constituency and party members are benefiting heavily from his people oriented programs and life changing services rendering to alleviate the suffering and hardship which people are going through on daily basis.
The party at this moment grieves because, the mother of all empowerments billed for later this year, the ongoing projects spread across the Constituency including health centers that are almost ready for commissioning and other life changing programs that he had in stock for the benefit of the greater percentage of the people will be greatly missed. This is a sad period for all of us and time to return to God for mercy.
His death at this time is a serious and huge blow to the entire PDP family in Akure South/North and Ondo State at large. Death took him away at the prime of his meritorious services rendering to bail his constituents out of poverty. He came, he saw and he conquered. Not too long but very touching, inspiring and impactful; his good deeds will remain forever and history will be kind to him.
He was a life dedicated to helping others even when the situation was not conducive, a bridge builder, a grassroots politician who always derived pleasure seeing people around him and an accomplished role model to many people. He remains an icon in the game, he personifies loyalty and good, shining example of leadership.
The entire PDP structures in Akure South Local Government commiserate with the Expensive family, the good people of Akure South/North Federal Constituency as well as the Akure community and Obanla area where the late legislator always caught fun. This indeed is a great loss to all of us.
We as a party pray to God to forgive his sins, help him and grant the bereaved family the fortitude and spirit to bear this irreplaceable loss.
Good night, a generous and committed Party leader.”
