Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu I, has commended the Osun Amotekun Corps for their exceptional efforts in combating crime and enhancing community safety.
He gave this commendation while receiving the Corps’ leadership at his palace ahead of the commissioning of a new Area Command Office in Agbowo-Iwo.
In his speech at the event, Oba Akanbi admitted initial doubts about the Amotekun initiative but lauded the Corps for exceeding expectations.
He praised the departed Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN for initiating the security outfit, and appreciated Osun GovernorAdemola Adeleke, for his continued support.
Corps Commander, Dr. Adekunle Omoyele, expressed gratitude for the royal support and noted significant progress under his leadership, including the recruitment of 1,150 new officers. He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to grassroots security and community collaboration.
Omoyele later commissioned the newly built Agbowo-Iwo Area Command Office, acknowledging the efforts of HRH Oba Musibau Akande Gbenusola I, who provided the land for the facility. The new command post will strengthen security operations in the Iwo axis.
The event saw widespread support from traditional rulers, community members, and state security stakeholders. The development marks a vital step in enhancing the community-based security architecture in Osun State.
