Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr.Yemi Olowolabi has commended the management and staff of the State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC) on quality programmes and balanced reporting of events across the country.
He gave the commendation during a visit by the management of the State Ministry of Information and Orientation to the Television Station at Orita Obele in Akure, the State Capital.
Olowolabi noted that the quality of programmes and balance in the news reportage of the broadcast Station showed that the staff of the Station are professionals, and urged them to keep the good work going.
He however reiterated the desire of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN to develop every sector of the state, noting that the state of the Television House before the coming of the present administration was worrisome.
The commissioner, who described the intervention of the present government to rescue the Station from total collapse as timely, assured that the new OSRC can now meet international best practices in the broadcast industry, noting that the outfit would remain the best State-owned Television Station in the South West Region of the country.
He called for synergy between his Ministry and the Station for adequate propagation of the State government\’s activities to the public.
He also congratulated the Management and Staff for turning the Station around, which according to him has attracted more viewers within and outside the State.
Responding, the interim board chairman of OSRC, Mr.Kunle Adebayo said the new OSRC was achieved due to the proactiveness, courage and support of the Governor, stressing that the Governor is determined to develop every sector of the economy of the State.
He added that the tranformation witnessed was as a result of determination of the state government and the cooperation he got from staff of the Station.
He noted that both the Television and Radio Stations were broadcasting five hours daily before the intervention of the Governor, saying that they now broadcast 19 hours daily.
He assured that the Station would adhere strictly to professionalism in discharging its manadate, notting that the views of opposition would be heard on the State- owned media organisations for balanced reporting of events.
Adebayo assured the people of the southern and northern parts of the State of better service from the station as the Booster Stations in Oka- Akoko and Okitipupa would soon be activated for them to receive the station clearer, stating that provision was made for the purpose in the 2018 budget.
He thanked the commissioner and his team for the visit and assured them of improved partnership between the Ministry and the Station.
