Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo
Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has called on residents to uphold religious tolerance, foster peaceful coexistence, and remain vigilant as Muslims and Catholics begin the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Hon. Ismaila Isah, the governor described the periods as sacred times of fasting, prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal for Muslims and Catholics, respectively.
“The holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent offer believers an opportunity to strengthen their relationship with Almighty God and reaffirm values of compassion, charity, humility, sacrifice, and self-discipline,” Governor Ododo said.
He urged faithfuls of both religions to pray for continued peace, stability, and development in Kogi State and across Nigeria. The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting freedom of worship and promoting harmony among people of different faiths.
Ododo prayed that Almighty Allah and God accept the fasts, prayers, and acts of devotion offered during these sacred seasons, while calling on citizens to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and committed to sustaining peace.
He further encouraged residents to extend compassion to the needy, emphasizing that love, kindness, and mutual respect are at the heart of both Ramadan and Lent.
