ODIEC pledges support as INEC begins voter registration August 18

Chairman of Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission, 0DIEC, Dr. Joseph Aremo has pledged the commission’s support in enlightening Ondo State residents as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC begins online voters registration.

In a statement by the Commission’s spokesman, Alhaji ‘Bisi Agboola, at the weekend, Aremo stressed the importance of active participation in the exercise which is a major step in electing community representatives.

He maintained that absence of voter cards will not permit eligible adults to exercise their franchise at the poll.

The voter registration will enable those who have changed their locations to get registered at their new location, he explained.

He added that those who just attain the age of 18, or have lost their cards will also be permitted the to register afresh.

However, Aremo cautioned against double registration saying such act contradicts the laid down regulation and attracts stiff penalty.

The 0DIEC Chairman called on those who are yet to collect their previous cards to visit INEC offices for collection .
