Obasanjo to continue farm in Benue

News

Despite the torch of his extensive farm in Benue state by some hoodlums resulting into losses amounting to millions of naira, former President Olusegun Obasanjo will not relocate.

This was disclosed by Governor Samuel Ortom who said that Obasanjo assured him that despite the burning of his mango farm at Howe in Gwer Local Government Area of the state, he will not continue farming in the state.

Ortom announced this yesterday in Makurdi, the state capital, during a church service on the 46 years of the creation of the state.

The governor said Obasanjo had planned to build a mango processing factory near the farm. “The mangoes will not be taken to any other place for processing but will be processed in that same place,” he said.

Ortom regretted that the people working on the farm would be thrown into the labour market, following the fire that occurred there last weekend.

He announced that three of the suspected arsonists had been arrested while others are on the run.
