Alani of Ido Ani, Oba (Major Gen retd) Olufemi Olutoye, with the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Irekari LCDA, Hon Steve Otaloro (left), and his team members during the visit to the royal father
The paramount ruler of Idoani Kingdom, Oba (Major General) Olufemi Olutoye, has expressed his admiration for the newly appointed Caretaker Chairman of Irekari LCDA, Hon. Steve Otaloro, and his interim management team.
He gave the commendation during a courtesy visit to him in his palace by Otaloro and his management team, during which he presented his five-point Agenda for the LCDA.
These include plans to reopen the closed First Bank Branch in Idoani, improve accessibility of farm produce through the opening of feeder roads, lay township roads with asphalt to enhance the status of Idoani as an LCDA Headquarters, promote the rich culture and potential of Idoani and other towns on a global platform, and prioritize the welfare of vulnerable widows and the poorest in the LCDA.
Oba Olutoye prayed for God’s guidance in the fulfillment of these goals.
The royal father believes that Otaloro and his team are well-suited to lead the nascent Local Council Development Area due to what he described as their impressive track records.
He noted particularly the departed father of the new council boss, who he said made significant contributions to the growth and development of the Irekari area while serving in the administration of the first Ondo State civilian governor, the departed Pa Adekunle Ajasin.
However, Oba Olutoye expressed his dissatisfaction with the criticism against their nomination, stating that the new council leadership did not appoint themselves but was entrusted with this responsibility by the governor.
He believes that they should not be denied the opportunity to serve the people and calls for support instead.
In his speech, Otaloro commended Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for fulfilling his campaign promise to create a separate local government for the Irekari axis, which brings governance closer to the people.
He advised the people of the LCDA, especially traditional chiefs, against being manipulated by politicians for selfish interests, which could disrupt the peace of the community.
He assured that the Divisional Police Officer has been instructed to take appropriate action against any acts of sabotage.
In his appeal for peace, Otaloro emphasized that it is the prerogative of Governor Akeredolu to appoint suitable individuals to oversee the affairs of the council until the local government election is conducted.
He assured the community that the upcoming election would provide an opportunity for the people to elect their preferred candidates from all political parties.
Otaloro expressed gratitude to Oba Olutoye for his reception and promised to seek his counsel and guidance as he leads the affairs of Irekari LCDA.
