OAU Teaching Hospital invites patients for complex liver surgeries

The Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, OAUTHC, Ile Ife, has called on surgeons nationwide to refer to it “patients with resectable liver, pancreatic, and biliary cancers in good performance” for complex liver surgeries scheduled to be performed between April 7 and 11 this year.

According to the facility in a statement titled ‘Call for Patients” by Prof Olusegun Isaac Alatise:

“In preparation for Liver transplantation at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, Ile-Ife, Osun State, we are receiving an HPB surgeon and a liver transplant surgeon from the USA and Canada from April 7th, 2026, to April 11th, 2026.

“During the visit, we will be performing complex Liver, pancreatic, and biliary surgery all week long.

“The surgery will be performed with high-tech equipment supplied by ERBE (Germany).

“We solicit your kind support by referring patients with resectable liver, pancreatic, and biliary cancers in good performance status to us.

“Each patient must come with a triple-phase chest and abdominopelvic contrast CT scan and an abdominal MRI.

“We will be selecting patients during our regular clinic on Thursday, March 19th, 26th, and April 2nd, 2026.

“We will be happy to have the referring surgeon join us during the surgery.

“Please help circulate the information widely.

“The program is being organized in partnership with NICRAT, NCS, and the Ministerial Committee on Liver Transplantation.
