November 16 election: Ondo youths rally behind Aiyedatiwa – Adeyemo

Barely six weeks to the November 16 Governorship Election in Ondo State, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, said that youths in the state have resolved to rally behind the candidacy of the incumbent Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.

The governor, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, will contest the election with a former Deputy Governor of the state and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hon Agboola Ajayi, among others.

In a statement by its State Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Steve Otaloro, APC said that its Youth Leader in the state, Adeyemo Olalekan stressed the desire of youths in the state to mobilise for Aiyedatiwa to enable him to win the forthcoming election.

According to the statement, Adeyemo “reiterated the desire of the youths of Ondo State to mobilize for Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, a youth-friendly leader who has consistently demonstrated his commitment to empowering the youth of Ondo State to be elected on November 16, 2024 governorship election in Ondo State.”

He listed Aiyedatiwa’s achievements since he assumed office, including improving the party members’ reward system, and engaging more youths in various positions.

Also, Aiyedatiwa:

  • Disbursed ₦373M in bursaries to 5,928 tertiary institution students through OSOPADEC,
  • Paid ₦708M in WAEC fees for 2023/2024 SS3 students in public secondary schools,
  • Approved 3.5billion for the renovation and upgrading of schools across the state to reduce out-of-school children,
  • Approved an alternative road into the AAUA campus,
  • Flagged off payment of ₦335M in scholarships and bursaries to Ondo State students,
  • Provided 25 Toyota Hilux vehicles to security agencies and Toyota Landcruisers for judges,
  • Released ₦3B to offset retired civil servants’ gratuity backlog,
  • Offered ₦300M in soft loans to artisans, trade union members, and entrepreneurs, and
  • Approved recruitment of 2000 qualified teachers and over 100 health workers.

The statement added: “Governor Aiyedatiwa’s vision for Ondo State is clear: to complete all ongoing capital projects, sustain the state on the path of glory and development, focus on key issues to alleviate poverty, banish hunger, and make Ondo State self-sustaining through the State Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (SEEDS).

“Adeyemo urges Ondo State youths to join him in continuing to mobilize aggressively for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s victory in the November 16 governorship election to continue enjoying his patronage and support.”
