Nigerians want free, fair elections, Kasali tells INEC

News

Nigerians expect the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to work unselfishly towards delivering free, fair and credible elections, starting with the February 16 polls.

In fact, the success of the polls depends largely on the good conduct of the INEC officials, its temporary staff from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and security agents, according to the General Overseer, Hour of Mercy Prayer Ministry Worldwide, Orioke Alaseyori, Moniya, near Ibadan, Prophet Muyideen Kasali.

He urged them to sustain the peace and unity of our country, saying: “All eyes are on INEC, the security agents and the corps members who will conduct the polls .They must fear God and be thorough in their conduct during and after the election.”

He spoke during the February edition of the ministry’s Hour of Mercy programme, which was the 13th anniversary of the programme, and which also marked the cleric’s birthday.

Kasali, said that elections are not about who wins but what Nigerians stand to gain and benefit thereafter.

His words: “The youths must eschew violence. INEC has power over the polls but it must be seen to be fair and do things right. Security agents must do their best to protect the people before, during and after the polls.

“The electorate should be allowed to vote according to their conscience and for the candidate of their choice. Neither Buhari nor Atiku can declare themselves winners of the election but INEC. They should just do things right and allow peace to reign in the country.”

The cleric urged Nigerians to pray for the country and rely on Divine wisdom and not their own understanding .

He said: “We should pray against famine and the prices of goods that will go skyrocketed. Corps members should not allow themselves to be compromised so that the glory of tomorrow will not be taken away by today’s loss.

He described his birthday celebration as unique as people were sent across the world to bless him with gifts.

He said that since birth, he had never had a unique birthday celebration as this year’s, as negative news being peddled about him turned positive to further bless and enrich him. This, he said, had also spurred him to further assist the needy and less privileged.

He said that surely alleged rumors mongers would soon meet their waterloo because he is serving a living Almighty Father.

According to him “I have been receiving gifts from my well wishers from USA, UK, Canada and other parts of world since February 1st when we started the fasting and prayer which will end on 28.

He said that he Lord has been using the negative stories written about him to take him to the next level of his glory, as he thanked his wife Oredolapo Awosika for her support, and the ministry’s spokesperson, Mrs Dorcas Adeyinka who has been warding off alleged media attacks against the ministry.
