Nigeria Ondo State

By Shefiu Adeyemo

The  Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, Dr AbdulAkeem Yaayi-Akorede, today at the Central Mosque pleaded for togetherness of Nigeria so that  the Nation can  move forward from her current position.

He stressed that the  problems the  country is facing today are not those of  today but accumulated problems of long times ago.

The  Chief Imam noted that  God blessed the Nation with human and  natural  resources to the extent that only palm oil seedlings which Malaysia took from Nigeria years ago are now that country’s  major source of income while  Nigeria the source of that country’s wealth still lives in immeasurable  poverty.

He pleaded with  the  Yoruba states that are clamouring for Oodua Republic to put aside their agitation and use all the strength they wanted to use for that envisaged republic to work for the  peace and progress of one Nigeria.

He equally  begged the citizens to stop cursing their leaders; instead they  should be praying for them so that the prayers of individuals will help them entrench good  governance so that the citizenry can  feel the effects of good  governance.

The cleric noted that the state and the federal governments should  imbibe the  spirit  of prayers at least  once in a month and that the government should not doubt the  work of prayers because it works very well.

Yaayi-Akorede used the opportunity to thank  Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for  his support and  love for the Muslim  community in the state as shown in his approval of a mosque in the  government house, the  foundation laying of which was done recently.

He thanked the  Governor on behalf of all Muslims in the state.

In his response, the second term seeking Akeredolu who was represented by his running mate in the October 10 governorship election, Hon  Lucky Aiyedatiwa thanked the chief imam and all Muslims in the state for the shower of love and  support.

He pleaded that the continuity and the reelection of Akeredolu government would bring a lot of progress and development to the state.

He stressed that the seaport that this  present  government is working  towards would open business opportunities and employment to the state.

He counseled that come October 10, 2020 people should go out and cast their votes for Akeredolu and  Aiyedatiwa for the good of the  state.
