Nigeria at 58: Ondo NAWOJ sues for peace

As Nigeria celebrates its 58th Independence, the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists(NAWOJ), Ondo State chapter, has called for peace.

In a statement by the Secretary Abooluwa Famakinwa, the Chairman of the Association Comrade Sola Omotoso said Nigerians should embrace peace especially at this electioneering period.

Sola Omotosho enjoined women, to be ambassadors of peace and frown at anything that would jeopardise the peace of their homes and that of the society at large.

While recognising women’s great roles in the society, the Nawoj Chairman
charged them not to be part of the vote buying process but they should encourage the electorate to vote according to their conscience .

She said for every wrong doing in the society, the woman is at the receiving end , so she is the worst hit.

As mothers of the nation,the Nawoj chairman urged women to champion all that is right and ensure their children and wards are not used as political thugs and touts.

In the spirit of celebration, the she appealed to the Federal Government to hasten up actions to rescue Leah Sharibu from the Boko Haram’s den against the October death threat.

Leah is one of the 110 female students of Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe State abducted on February 19th.

The Chairman on behalf of her members, wishes Nigeria a happy independence celebration and a greater future.
