NBA Osogbo flags off 2025 law week Saturday May 24

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Osogbo Branch, will flag off its 2025 Law Week on Saturday, 24th May, 2025 with a visit to Owala Lake, where members will enjoy a boat cruise and other exciting side attractions.

In a statement by the Branch Chairman, Mr Olayemi Abiona, the body said this year’s Law Week is themed:“Appreciating the Gains of the Past in Moving Forward, a reflection of the Bar’s commitment to drawing strength from history to shape a more responsive legal profession and society.”

The topic is “State & Local Governments’ Independence under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as Amended): A Myth or Reality?”

A panel of distinguished discussants including Musbau Adetumbi SAN, Chief Mahmoud Adesina SAN, Prof. Bukola Akinola, and Abdulrahman Okunade Esq.— will further deepen the discourse with insightful perspectives.

Keynote address will be delivered by Aare Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, a Life Bencher and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), renowned for his relentless advocacy for the rule of law and strengthening of sub-national governance structures.

The statement said that activities continue on Tuesday, 28th May, 2025, with a sensitization walk tagged “Walk for Rule of Law”, aimed at reinforcing the NBA’s advocacy for constitutionalism and good governance.

This will be complemented by free medical screening, emphasizing the holistic well-being of members and the public.

The peak of the celebration comes up on Wednesday, 29th May, 2025, with a Grand Lecture designed to spark rich intellectual engagement.

The Lecture, and the Dinner and Award Night will both hold at the prestigious Adolak Event Centre, along Ibadan-Gbongan Road, Osogbo.
