The National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Olusola Ladoja, has commended the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, for his administration’s unwavering commitment to education, workers’ welfare, and the overall well-being of the people of the state.

He spoke during a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Government House, Osogbo, on Tuesday as part of his campus tour across the state. Governor Adeleke was represented at the event by the Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi.

In his remarks, the NANS President lauded the Governor for the “wonderful job” his administration has been doing in transforming Osun State, describing him as “a student-friendly, worker-friendly, and people-oriented leader” whose policies reflect a genuine concern for the welfare of all citizens.

While acknowledging the notable progress recorded in the education sector, Comrade Ladoja urged the Governor to do even more, “like the proverbial Oliver Twist.” He called for the swift resolution of the lingering local government impasse, noting that the continued withholding of local government funds was adversely affecting education in the state.

According to him, the diversion of funds meant for developmental projects, including education, to cover local government staff salaries has begun to impact school funding and infrastructure negatively.

The NANS President also appealed to the state government to consider reducing tuition fees at Osun State University (UNIOSUN), providing official vehicles for students’ use, and prioritizing road construction within the College of Health Technology, Ilesa, among other interventions aimed at improving the learning environment across the state.

Ladoja reaffirmed NANS’ readiness to continue partnering with the Osun State Government to promote quality education, good governance, and youth development.

Also present at the meeting were the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Eluwole Sunday Ededipo; the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Matters, Comrade Aaderoju Bashiru; and other notable stakeholders in the students’ movement, including Comrade Ebby Oluwasegun Ige and Comrade Babrinde Funsho.
