Dividends of good governance will continuously be brought to the door steps of the people of Ondo State through people-oriented and life-changing projects.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, made this pledge in Irele, when he paid an appreciation visit to people of the area for their massive support for his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC in the just concluded House of Assembly election.
He said: “With this support, the people should expect more infrastructural development and other basic amenities in the coming years.
“We have come to thank you for your immense support for the party’s victory and your efforts indicated that you are solidly in support of the little we have been able to do so far. You all did well.”
He said the present administration has blazed the trail in the area of renovation and reconstruction of primary schools, assuring that more would be touched for the comfort of the pupils.
He listed some of the primary schools renovated to include Methodist Primary School in Ode-Ajagba, Jiwiri Community School, St Paul’s RCM, Salvation Army Primary School, and C.A.C Primary School, Ajagba among numerous others.
According to him: “Apart from these, roads were also constructed; they include the Sabomi-Ajagba road project, Ayeka-Araromi road project; the Secretariat road in Irele has also been constructed among others.
“We have just started, it’s just two years of our administration and we have done this much. We need your support like you did during the last House of Assembly election.
“We enjoin you to cooperate with us, give us the desired support needed which would enable us to continue delivering dividends of good governance to you.”
Earlier, APC State Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin praised the people of the town for their support and urged them to continue to stand by the party now and in the future.
He said:”Your continued support for the present administration during elections would enable the Governor to continue delivering more people-oriented projects across the state.”
Also, Chairman of Irele Local government, Prince Gbadebo Odimayo, said the visit would promote fraternal links and valued-cooperation between the people and constituted authority.
He thanked the Governor for the completion of the road linking Irele Local government with Okitipupa and other neighbouring local governments which has eased the suffering of people traveling from Ilaje to Okitipupa.
He said: “We equally commend you on your kind approval for the construction of the 1 km Secretariat/Sabomi road with Asphalt overlay. This is made possible in view of your genuine promise that major towns across the state will benefit from your good road network scheme.
“We appeal that you give further approval for the construction of the remaining part of the road to make life more meaningful for our people.”
He congratulated the Governor over his success at the House of Assembly election, stressing that the success shows the acceptance of his administration by the people,due to the Governor’s unprecedented administrative acumen that has resulted into laudable people-oriented projects across the state.
Odimayo assured the governor of Irele people’s unshakable and continued support for the success of his administration, adding that his achievements so far has added more credibility to his chances of second term in office ambition.
He expressed concern over the Obaship crisis in the town, pleading with the governor to help facilitate the process of appointing a new traditional ruler for the town.
Also, the Ahaba of Ajagba, Oba Thomas Adesayo appreciated the governor for the various projects carried out in the area especially on road construction and schools’ rehabilitation.
He also thanked the Governor for resuscitating the Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (OSUSTECH), which he said, had developed from three faculties to 17 following the governor’s intervention.
