Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has praised his Ondo counterpart, Lucky Aiyedatiwa for building on the legacy of his predecessor, the departed former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN
He gave the commemdation when Aiyedatiwa hosted him in his Akure office.
Makinde was in Akure for the activities marking the 10th Coronation Anniversary of the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II.
At a reception for him at the Presidential Lodge of the Government House, Aiyedatiwa congratulated him on the chieftaincy title to be conferred on him by the Deji of Akure.
Aiyedatiwa, who said leaders must maintain good working relationship irrespective of political party affiliations, commended Makinde for his achievements in the last six years as Oyo Governor.
He said: “My brother, I welcome you back home. Akure is your home and I want to congratulate you on the chieftaincy title to be conferred on you by Kabiyesi, the Deji of Akure.
“I am sure this honour is not just because you are a Governor but because you are a good leader of your people worthy of such recognition and celebration.”
Earlier, Makinde had thanked Aiyedatiwa for the warm reception, stressing that the bond between Ondo and Oyo will continue to get stronger.
Makinde, whose mother hailed from Akure, said he would continue to hold Ondo State dear to his heart, as he’s always excited to visit the State. He commended Aiyedatiwa on the peaceful atmosphere in the State.
He also commended him for sustaining the legacies of his predecessor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, especially on the funding of Amotekun.
Maninde was accompanied on the visit by Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, a member of the Oyo State Governor’s Advisory Council and Chief Bayo Lawal, Executive Adviser on General Duties.
Those present at the event included the Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa, and Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Engr. Johnson Alabi.
There were also the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Dr Kayode Ajulo, SAN, his counterpart for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, Otunba Adewale Akinlosotu, Chairman of State Universal Basic Education, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, and the Director General of OSRC, Mr. Keneth Odusola-Stevenson.
