Makinde assures Ondo flood victims of govt’s prompt intervention

The representative of Ondo East/West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives,  Honourable Abiola Makinde, has assured the residents that he would use his position to reach out to relevant government agencies like the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide aid and support during this difficult time.

Ondo City, Abiola’s constituency, was on Fr[day by a flood which swept away buildings, and vehicles and wreaked further havoc in the ancient city.

Makinde who visited the affected areas on Saturday for an on-the-spot assessment thanked Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who quickly dispatched his cabinet to address the issue despite being out of the state during the flood.

He also thanked the paramount ruler of Ondo Kingdom, the Osemawe of Ondo, Oba Dr. Adesimbo Kiladejo, for his proactive role, and youth groups and the general public for their continued support.

His goal was to find a lasting solution to the flooding and support the affected residents.

Accompanied by the Ondo State Commissioner for Information, Hon Wale Akinsotu, Makinde praised the resilience and bravery of the constituents, as videos circulating on social media showed community members rescuing others from being swept away by the floodwaters.

The assessment covered areas such as the canal along Ife Road, the canal at Fagun Estate, and the bridge at Oke-Odunwo, all of which have experienced repeated flooding.
