The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has paid glowing tributes to Princess Rafatu Ademinure Awofisayo, the last surviving child of Ooni Ademiluyi Ajagun, who passed away at the age of 102.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, Otunba Moses Olafare, the monarch described her passing as the end of a remarkable era, noting that her life was marked by service, spiritual devotion, and enduring impact.

The Ooni said the deceased Princess lived a fulfilled life worthy of celebration rather than mourning, having dedicated over a century to humanity, faith, and the preservation of Yoruba royal heritage.

He highlighted her significant role as the Iya Adinni of Ifeland, where she served as a pillar within the Muslim community, contributing immensely to the growth of Islam and promoting unity, discipline, and compassion among adherents in Ile-Ife and beyond.

“Mama was more than a royal figure; she was a spiritual beacon and a bridge between generations, whose life reflected divine grace and purpose,” the statement read.

Reflecting on her royal lineage, the monarch noted that Princess Awofisayo upheld the legacy of her father with dignity, describing her as a custodian of culture who preserved the traditions and values of the Oduduwa race with exceptional grace.

He further commended her humility, wisdom, and motherly love, stating that she nurtured generations and offered guidance to many, earning respect across religious and cultural divides.

The Ooni urged the people of Ifeland and beyond to celebrate her legacy by living purposeful lives rooted in service, unity, and faith, stressing that her 102 years on earth remain a testament to a life richly blessed.

He also prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul, expressing confidence that her legacy would continue to inspire generations.
