The Onipee of Ipee land in Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Muftau Adebayo Lawal, has placed an embargo on the sale and allocation of land in six communities under his domain.

The affected communities are Bolude, Ologoro, Ori-Ota, Igbo Ajo, Aiyekale, and Ajoko.

In a statement by Mr. Simeon Ayodele Ogunshola, President of the Ipee Development Project Committee, the monarch also announced the constitution of a three-man committee to oversee the implementation of the directive.

Members of the committee include Chief Bode Afolayan, the Asiwaju of Ipee land; Mr. Simeon Ogunshola, IPU President; and Barrister Omokayode A. Dada (SAN).

According to the statement, the embargo is part of ongoing efforts to “restore sanity and rectify past mistakes in land allocations.” It added that the decision followed an inspection of community lands in the affected areas to ensure transparency, accountability, and sustainable development.

In addition, a task force team has been established to monitor compliance and report directly to the committee.

The statement warned that any individual, irrespective of status or position, found engaging in unauthorized land transactions will face appropriate sanctions, while all disputed or questionable land claims are suspended until further notice.
