Yakubu and top officials of the commission at the opening
Nigeria’s electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday formally opened its collation centre in Abuja for the presidential election conducted on Saturday.
The commission’s Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who performed the ceremony, said with the official opening of the centre, results of the election would start pouring in formally from across the country, for collation.
He had earlier addressed stakeholders where he spoke about the conduct of the elections, and the challenges encountered on Saturday, including electoral violence.
Also, he reeled out to the press and party agents guidelines concerning the collation whenever it starts.
Thereafter, he adjourned proceedings till 11 am on Monday, February 25.
