The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Odun State has hosted students of Ebunoluwa International School, Osogbo, as part of an educational excursion aimed at deepening their understanding of Nigeria’s electoral processes and the institutional framework of the Commission.

The visit was designed to acquaint the students with INEC’s organizational structure, roles, and key electoral activities, while also encouraging civic awareness among young Nigerians.

A major highlight of the event was an engaging interactive session led by the Honourable Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, who personally addressed the students and their accompanying teachers.

Dr. Agboke, accompanied by members of INEC’s Management Team, provided an insightful overview of the Commission’s constitutional mandate, core responsibilities, and guiding principles. He emphasized INEC’s unwavering commitment to transparency, fairness, and credibility in the conduct of elections across the country.

During the session, students were introduced to critical aspects of Nigeria’s election management system, including voter registration, Permanent Voter Card (PVC) issuance, the role of IVED/BIVAS technology, as well as procedures for election monitoring and result collation.

The students demonstrated a commendable level of interest and engagement, asking thoughtful questions on various topics such as PVC acquisition, electoral malpractices, voting procedures, and the importance of civic participation in a democracy.

Dr. Agboke commended the students for their curiosity and intelligent questions, encouraging them to grow into responsible and informed citizens who will contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s democratic development.

He also praised the management of Ebunoluwa International School for initiating the visit and exposing their students to the operations of a critical national institution like INEC.

As part of the tour, the students were taken to the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) section of the office, where they observed firsthand how eligible voters are registered and attended to.

The excursion concluded with a group photograph featuring the students, their teachers, the Honourable REC, and members of the INEC Management Team.
