The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Osun State has notified the general public, stakeholders, and eligible citizens that the first phase of the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise officially ended on Wednesday, 10th December 2025.
At the close of the exercise, the State recorded 209,110 completed registrations, a figure which reflects the strong enthusiasm and civic commitment demonstrated by eligible residents across Osun.
In a statement signed by Musa Olurode, Public Relations Officer, for the Resident Electoral Commissioner, the Commission emphasized that the figure recorded does not yet represent the number of validly registered voters.
The data remains preliminary, pending verification and cleanup processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with established standards.
INEC expressed appreciation to citizens, community leaders, and stakeholders whose cooperation contributed to the smooth conduct of the first phase.
According to the approved timetable, the display of the Preliminary Register of Voters will take place from 15th to 21st December 2025 across all registration centres in the State.
The display exercise is crucial for claims and objections, allowing registered voters to:
- Check and confirm their personal details;
- Request corrections where necessary; and
- Raise objections to incorrect or fraudulent entries.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, urged all registered voters to visit the INEC Local Government Area offices where they originally registered to verify their details.
He described this step as essential to ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and credibility of the voters’ register ahead of future elections.
INEC also reminded the public that the second phase of the CVR will commence on Monday, 5th January 2026, and urged all eligible citizens who missed the first phase to take advantage of the next opportunity.
INEC Osun State reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and the continued strengthening of Nigeria’s electoral process.
