The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nana Nandap, has described the death of Assistant Comptroller General (ACG) Joseph Olutayo Dada as a monumental loss to the Service and the nation at large.
In a condolence message to the widow, children, and family of the departed officer, Nandap praised ACG Dada’s outstanding professionalism, discipline, integrity, and compassion throughout his service. Dada, who served as the Comptroller of Immigration, Oyo State Command, was hailed for his exemplary leadership and dedication to duty.
Represented by the Acting Comptroller of Immigration, Oyo State Command, D.A. Omoniwa, during a condolence visit to the deceased’s hometown of Ilesa, Osun State, the Comptroller General said the news of Dada’s passing came as a profound shock to the Immigration Service and the Oyo State Government.
“The news of ACG Dada’s death on August 10, 2025, came as a devastating blow to the Nigeria Immigration Service, particularly the Oyo State Command, where he served with distinction. His tenure was marked by uncommon professionalism, integrity, and a deep sense of compassion. His passing is not only a personal loss to his family but a colossal loss to the Service, Nigeria, and humanity,” Nandap said.
She prayed for the repose of his soul and for God to grant his family strength and comfort in their time of grief.
Responding on behalf of the bereaved family, Elder Joshua Olayiwola Dada expressed gratitude to the visiting delegation, led by Acting Comptroller Omoniwa, for the show of solidarity despite their demanding schedules. He also thanked the Comptroller General for her heartfelt tribute and recognition of the late officer’s contributions.
Elder Dada appealed to the Nigeria Immigration Service to honour the memory of ACG Dada by supporting the family he left behind and ensuring timely processing of his entitlements. He also requested assistance in giving him a befitting burial.
Late ACG Joseph Olutayo Dada, who passed away at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan on Sunday, August 10, 2025, after a brief illness, will be laid to rest on August 30, 2025. A commendation service will be held at Four Square Church, Coca-Cola Area, Ijebu-Jesa Road, Ilesa, before interment at his residence along Ijebu-Jesa Road.
