Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is not decamping from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to any other party contrary to report.
The governor, who declared this on Wednesday in a statement by his spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, debunked his reported plan to ditch his party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), as false and misleading.
Besides, he described the report as baseless, unfounded, and a calculated attempt by alleged political detractors alarmed by his rising popularity and outstanding performance.
According to the statement, “For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Adeleke remains a loyal and committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“He has no intention whatsoever of joining the ADC or any other political party.”
It said the governor’s focus remains on the effective delivery of democratic dividends to the people of Osun State, who overwhelmingly entrusted him with their mandate three years ago.
The statement added that Adeleke, in collaboration with PDP leaders across the state, is currently strengthening party structures and actively mobilizing for the ongoing voter registration exercise in preparation for the 2026 gubernatorial election — a race in which he is widely regarded as the frontrunner.
Describing the report as a “desperate attempt to exploit Governor Adeleke’s massive goodwill,” the statement noted that unsolicited endorsements of the Governor have unsettled political opponents who are clearly uncomfortable with the people’s unwavering support.
“We urge the public to disregard any rumour or publication suggesting that Governor Adeleke is considering defection. Such claims are nothing but fake news and should be treated as such,” the statement said.
It encouraged PDP supporters and loyalists to remain focused and intensify their mobilization efforts for the Governor’s re-election bid, assuring them that Governor Adeleke remains firmly aligned with the party and the aspirations of the people.
“Governor Adeleke is a man of the people. He has never, and will never, act against the will of those who gave him their trust and mandate,” it assured.
