The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ile Oluji, Fedpolel, Ondo State, Prof Adedayo Fasakin, has called on the police to strengthen security around Ile Oluji in view of the recent armed robbery attack on First Bank and Polaris Bank branches in the town.

In a statement signed by him and entitled “Need for calm on the armed robbery incident in Ile Oluji community,” he sympathised with the families of the victims of the robbery.

He said: “The news of the attack on the First Bank Plc and Polaris Bank Plc in Ile-Oluji Community on Thursday, 6th February, 2020 was received with a rude shock and unbelievable, particularly when one considers the peaceful and serene ambience of the host community which the Polytechnic Community has enjoyed thus far.

In the face of this orgy incident, I sympathise with the families of the victims of the robbery, and I call on the relevant security agents to beef up security in Ile-Oluji Community. Those behind the daylight robbery should be unravelled and brought to justice.

In the same vein, I call on all staff and students of the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji to remain calm and go about their lawful activities peacefully. Let me also seize this medium to admonish all the students of the Polytechnic to stay clear of night crawling, visits and partying and be security-conscious during this period.

Finally, on behalf of the Polytechnic Community, I deeply commiserate with the families of those who have lost their loved ones and pray God to grant the deceased eternal rest. I equally glorify God for His continued protection over the FEDPOLEL family and the Ile-Oluji Community.”
