Imams of prominent mosques in Ikire converged at the residence of Senator Kamorudeen Olalere Oyewumi to offer special prayers for the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke and Senator Akogun Lere Oyewumi.
The prayer session was led by Alhaji Basiru Balogun, Chief Imam of the Ahmadiya Movement in Islam, alongside Alhaji Memudu, Chief Imam of the Nawair-ud-deen Central Mosque, Ikire.
They offered supplications for divine guidance, sustained peace in Osun State, and the successful renewal of the leadership mandates of both the Governor and the Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District.
The Imams commended Adeleke and Oyewumi for what they described as their people-centred leadership, grassroots development initiatives, and inclusive approach to governance, noting that their synergy has continued to yield visible dividends for residents of Ikire and Osun State at large.
The gathering attracted wide representation from the Muslim Ummah in Ikire, reflecting unity across various Islamic missions and communities.
Participating mosques included the Ahmadiya Movement in Islam, Nawair-ud-deen Central Mosque, Anwar-ul-Islam, Zumuratul Mumini, Eleyoka Mosque, Ejilola Mosque, Modinat Mosque, Olubadan Mosque, Quwam Deen Mosque, Ifelodun Idi Ahun Mosque, Sabo Samsudeen Mosque, Hasbunallahu Mosque (Onibenbe), and Mundi Doogo Mosque, among others.
Speaking during the event, the religious leaders emphasized that their prayers were inspired by the tangible progress recorded by the current administration and the effective collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government.
In his remarks, Senator Oyewumi expressed profound appreciation to the Imams for their spiritual support and for their continued role in promoting peace, unity, and social harmony within the community.
He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment, in partnership with Governor Adeleke, to sustaining development and delivering democratic dividends to all parts of Osun State.
The prayer session rounded up with supplications for a peaceful electioneering period and enduring prosperity for the ancient town of Ikire.
