An ex-Envoy and former Senatorial Aspirant in Ondo State, Ambassador Sola Iji, has congratulated Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on the approval of a deep seaport in the state by the Federal Government.
In a congratulatory message on his behalf by Onibudo ‘Wole Iroaye, Iji praised the Governor’s unrelenting sheer audacity to pursue this gigantic project to its logical end.
The Federal Executive Council, FEC., had on Wednesday, in a meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, approved the implementation of the Ondo Deep Seaport Project, the star project of the Akeredolu administration which it believes would rapidly transform the economy of the state and thereby improve the fortunes of its people.
By Governor Akeredolu’s projection, the planned Port Ondo would attract over N500 billion in investments to the Ilaje hosting community alone, apart from robustly impacting the economies of the State and the Country.
According to the statement: “Ambassador Sola Iji congratulates His Excellency, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, on the recent approval of Port Ondo by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
“He hails the Governor’s unrelenting efforts in pursuing this gigantic project to its logical end.
“He sees the Governor’s achievement in this direction as a boost to the growth and development of the Sunshine State, which will for long remain an enduring legacy to be proud of.
“Iji, who is confident that the project, when established, will be the only Port in Nigeria standing on the longest Coastline with the possibility of its growing and developing at a faster rate than the other Sea ports in Nigeria and beyond, emphasizes that the Port will confer huge benefits of monumental proportion on Ondo State, nay Nigeria.
“The Ex-envoy, whose heart is gladdened by the approval of the Port by the APC led-Federal Government, is full of plaudits for General Muhammadu Buhari(rtd.), President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“He equally showers encomium on Prince Ademola Adegorioye, the Honourable Minister of State, Ministry of Transportation, for his unwavering and invaluable collaboration with the Governor to win this breathtaking victory for our State.
“In addition, Iji pays glowing tributes to Akeredolu’s predecessors, who in their tenures, paved the way for this project to become a reality today.
“Ambassador Sola Iji, who rates Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu very high as regards the approval of Port Ondo by the Federal Government of Nigeria, emphasizes that this is the product of the type of good, healthy, and beneficial collaboration, going forward, that should be encouraged between the State and our National leaders in the overall interests of Ondo State.”
