IGP mourns Ogun Amotekun boss, ex-CP Akinremi

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun has mourned the passage of the Amotekun commander in Ogun State, Ajibola Akinremi, who was also an ex-police commissioner.

In a statement by the Force Police Public Relations Officer, FPPRO, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP on behalf of the entire officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, commiserated with Akineemi’s family, friends and loved ones on his sudden death on Sunday July 25.

He described the late CP as a distinguished and highly respected member of the law enforcement community.

The statement said that the  late ex-CP Akinremi, retd, who was appointed as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1986 “sserved with unwavering dedication and made significant contributions to the safety and security of our country.”

He added that the deceased’s “commitment to upholding the rule of law, protecting the rights of citizens, and maintaining peace within our communities was exemplary.”

Until his demise, he was the Commander of the State Security Network Agency (Amotekun), appointed by the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

While commiserating with the family, government, and good people of Ogun State, Egbetokun reiterated that “the Force understands the magnitude of the loss and urges them to take solace in the Lord as death is what every soul will taste; and they should always count on the support from the wider police family during this difficult period.”
