- Sacrifices statutory security votes on infrastructural developmental projects
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has vowed never to borrow money from any financial institution to run the affairs of the state, saying he has better means of generating funds internally to continue his good works.
He made the vow in Osogbo, the state capital, at the first edition of “Ipade Imole”, a quarterly interactive meeting organized for him to give an account of his stewardship to the people, and to also get instant feedback from them.
At the programme in which a documentary highlighting his achievements in the last ten months was relayed, the governor reeled out some of his achievements, including the erection of 332 boreholes across the wards in the state, work on the Ilesa water project, rehabilitation, and construction of roads across the state, prompt payment of workers’ salaries and pensions, and the free Imole medical outreaches.
Regarding the N2 billion Palliative Fund received from the Federal Government, he said he has resolved to spend it on major projects including renovation and procurement of more buses for easy and affordable transportation as well as rehabilitation of health facilities.
The Governor who disclosed that he is sacrificing his statutory security votes on infrastructural developmental projects, also advised the political functionaries to follow his sacrificial service example for the overall development of the State.
On the recruitment of teachers to fill the existing vacancies in schools, he promised that this would be done after studying the report of the education summit held a few days ago, adding that he is working round the clock to make sure that Osun becomes a reference point in the country.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi said that the programme is a welcome development in order to allow the governor to give the much-needed account of the giant strides of his administration.
While appreciating the Governor for his proactive steps in addressing the clash between the Ifon and Ilobu communities, Alimi passionately appealed to the people to embrace peace.
