Gratitude (2)

Reflection for the day

By Bunmi Adebayo

Continuation of yesterday’s Reflections on the need for us as human beings to be grateful – grateful to God, and grateful to man.

Permit me to ask you this question : how many times have you deliberately called your spouse aside to thank him or her?

Yes, to thank him for making you a happy mother through the donation of “optimum seed count” (and not a low or nil count that is failing). Or in thanking her for making you a happy father through her fertile egg and the carriage of your seed for nine months and safely delivering such a baby?

If you don’t agree with my position above, go and find out from your friends or peers who got married at the same time as you did, and who are still looking up to God for fruits of the womb.

Have you thought of that person that facilitated your employment or business breakthrough years ago which allowed you to be where you are today on the ladder of life?

Again if you don’t believe my position above, go and find out from your colleagues or mates that you graduated from school with, even with their better grades, who are still hoping for job placement or stability in life.

Dear Sir/Ma, the list is practically endless for which you need to be grateful.

There is no doubt about it, we are all at different levels of gratitude consciousness and expression. But no matter your placement on the gratitude ladder however, you can always work on yourself for improvement in the new year.

The more grateful you are, the higher you will go in your achievable altitude. This is the simple truth of life. To think or act otherwise is nothing but ingratitude, pride or self deception or sheer pomposity.

Please learn to always be grateful to God, and to men.

Do have a blessed new week ahead, your first full week in the new year.
