Pope Leo XIV’s offer to host peace talks between Russia and Ukraine at the Vatican has received instantaneous support of global leaders.
Confirming this is the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni who announced on Monday that world leaders are excited that the planned talks could draw the two feuding countries to the conference table and signal restoration of peace between the two neighbours.
Melono said in a statement that the proposal was positively received during a recent call between United States President Donald Trump and several European leaders.
The discussion followed a separate conversation between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“The availability of the Holy Father to welcome the talks at the Vatican was judged positively,” Meloni stated.
