To alleviate the sufferings of widows, octogenarians, and indigent youths, a Non-Governmental Organisation, Encouragers International Charity Organisation (EICO), has donated food items and assorted gifts to the aged and widows living in different local councils of Lagos State.
Beneficiaries were selected by council representatives, who were part of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
Speaking at the event to mark the Foundation’s 16th anniversary, the Director and Founder, Sunny Udogwu, lamented the pitiable conditions of the aged and widows in the society.
He said the gesture was a message to everyone that “these people should be taken care of, especially the widows.”
“The aged and widows should not be left alone. Many of them struggled till they are old. For the aged, it is obvious their strength is no more there and the question is: how do they survive? Same goes for the widows who have lost their dear ones. We can’t afford to open our eyes to see them suffer,” Udogwu said.
