The National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, in Osun State, on Sunday alleged that the Federal Government has released the seized allocations to sacked All Progressives Council local government officials.

It said the release contravened a pending court order.

The union made the disclosure through

It levelled the allegation through its state chairman, Comrade Dr. Kehinde Nathaniel Ogungbangbe, accusing top federal officials of undermining the judiciary and democracy by allegedly releasing statutory allocations to sacked APC local government chairmen and councillors.

Addressing a press conference in Osogbo, the state capital, Ogungbangbe named the Minister of Finance, the Accountant-General of the Federation, and the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice as principal actors in what he described as an illegal and unconstitutional action.

He alleged, “We have it on good authority that these three federal officers released Osun State’s local government allocations from March to September 2025 into illegal bank accounts opened by court-sacked APC chairmen and councillors.”

Ogungbangbe expressed shock over the development, describing it as “scary, alarming, and unprecedented in the history of public administration in Nigeria.”

He said the funds were allegedly paid into accounts opened with United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc by the dismissed officials, bypassing due process and the constitutionally recognized structures of local government administration.

The NULGE chairman recalled that the Federal High Court had on May 15, 2025, issued a status quo order, restraining all parties from taking further action pending the resolution of a legal dispute over the leadership of local governments in the state.

He noted that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had earlier respected the order and suspended disbursement of the funds, making the recent release by the finance ministry and its agencies a clear case of contempt of court.

“The matter is still before the Federal High Court, which is due to sit again on September 29, 2025. Yet, these federal officers chose to act in disregard of the judiciary,” he said.
