The Federal Government is working seriously to fix the black out being experienced by the people of the southern senatorial district of Ondo State.
It will also help actualise the promised Akure Teaching Hospital, a facility so dear to the heart of the royal father, his chiefs and subjects, who have been waiting expectantly for the fulfillment of the promise by Government, since it was made.
The Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, made the promises at the palace of the Deji of Akure, the state capital, Oba Aladelusi Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo, his first port of call on arrival in Ondo state for the inauguration of the state\’s edition of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs clinics.
This was in response to an appeal earlier made by the monarch on behalf of his colleague, the royal fathers in the southern senatorial district.
While welcoming the Vice President to his palace, the Deji had appealed to the Federal Government to do something urgently to redress the black out which had lingered for too long, and which has resulted in huge economic losses for the people of the area and the entire Ondo State. Besides, the blackout had caused untold hardship for the people of the area.
It has thrown the entire district, which is one of the Country\’s richest treasure beds, on which lies the world\’s second largest bitumen belt after Canada, a fabulously rich riverine area with a coastline of 500 kilometres, the longest in West Africa, and the famous oil and cocoa plantations, apart from other mineral resources, into distress for several months.
Besides, this situation has crippled socioeconomic activities in the area for several months while the people have made several fruitless appeals to both the Federal and State Governments as well as the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, which is in charge of the state.
Osinbajo asked for continued support of Nigerians for the All Progressives Congress, AP – led Federal Government in its quest to address all challenges confronting the Nation.
The Vice President was led to the Deji’s Palace by his host and Governor of Ondo state, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN.
While commending Oba Aladelusi for his show of love at all times, Osinbajo promised that government is determined to fulfill all promises made particularly the actualisation of a teaching hospital in Akure.
He said the MSMEs clinics in Akure became necessary to ensure that small businesses grow tremendously describing the programme as a viable way to revitalise Nigeria ‘s economy.
Osinbajo disclosed that Government is also going to install solar powered electricity in markets across the country with Isikan Market and the two NEPA Markets in Akure being the state\’s start off points, to encourage business men and women to ply their trades in a conducive environment.
Earlier, he Deji, who had assured of the people’s support at all times solicited the Federal Government\’s support for the realisation of a teaching hospital in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
Dignitaries at the event include the Minister of state for Niger Delta, Prof Claudius Daramola, Minister state for Trade and Investment, Aisha Abubakar, and members of the state executive council.
