The Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, will hold its 4th foundation lecture on May 18.
According to a statement by the institution’s Deputy Registrar, Information & Protocol, Mr Sanmi Enigbokan, the lecture, titled : “Polytechnic Education in National Development: Global Challenges and Strategic Leeway for the FEDPOLEL in Nigeria,” will be delivered by a former Director-General of Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, (NIIA), Prof Bola Akinterinwa.
The statement said: “With the wealth of experience of Professor Akinterinwa in international diplomacy and strategic studies, this year’s Foundation Day Lecture promises to be informative, educative and spiced with facts and figures.”
It will be delivered in furtherance of the institution’s “core values of deepening and promoting academic execellence and creating a global awareness on topical issues” at the Polytechnic’s Twin Auditorium by 10:00 a.m. prompt.
Expected at the Lecture are top Government Functionaries, Heads of Tertiary Institutions, Royal Fathers, Corporate Bodies as well as Friends of the Polytechnic from near and far. it added.
Since inception in 2017, three prominent scholars of international repute have delivered the Foundation Day Lecture of the Polytechnic. It kicked off on May 4, 2017 with Prof Adeniyi Gbadegesin, a former Vice-Chancellor of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso with the topic: “Building Entrepreneurial and Self- Reliant Graduates through Technical and Vocational Education.”
He was followed on May 4, 2018 by Prof Labo Popoola, an ex-Vice-Chancellor of Osun State University, Osogbo with a lecture on the imperative of “Building a Corruption-Free Nation: The Role of the Academia.”
After this, Prof Michael Oladimeji Faborode, a former Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife came on board on May 4, 2021 with his presentation on “Nigerian Polytechnics and the Challenges of Relevance in the Post Covid-19 World.”
The statement added: “Management therefore requests all Staff,Students and our invited guests to arrive the venue punctually and be seated by 9:30 a.m in readiness for a robust delivery of the Foundation Day Lecture.”
