A confidence vote was on Thursday unanimously passed on Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, by the state House of Assembly, for his laudable policies and programmes in his first 100 days in office, even as he presented a whopping N156 billion debt profile.
.It was at a special plenary sitting at the Assembly’s complex, Ado-Ekiti.
Leader of Business, Chief Gboyega Aribisogan moved the motion, while Ojo- Ade Fajana,(Ekiti East Constituency 1) seconded it, and it was unanimously adopted by other members.
Fayemi, who presented ‘The State-of-State to the Assembly as one of his activities marking his first 100 days in office put the state’s debt profile at N156 billion.
He gave the capital inflow to state between October 2014 and October 2018, to be N185 billion.
Highlighting the achievements of the present administration within the shortest period of 100 days, he said “in a very simple term, the State-of-the-State’ is good”
He boasted that his administration had recorded remarkable level of development through his people oriented policies and programmes,saying:
“I watched how the people of Erijiyan-Ekiti and its environs danced for joy when electricity was restored to the community for the first time in four years.
“I also saw how civil servants and pensioners jubilated for receiving their salaries and allowances as and when due, including arrears.
“The influx of prayers over the reintroduction of free and compulsory education in Ekiti and the payment of WAEC fees for our students has been overwhelming. This is just to mention a few of how we have touched the lives of our people within the past 100 days.”
He promised to always promote people oriented policies and programmes in order to bring about the desired development in the state, while thanking the people for their support.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Speaker, Mr Adebiran Alagbada described Fayemi’s first 100 days in office as better than the four years of the administration of the immediate past government.
He said: “Pursuant to Section 108 sub-section 1 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, you have presented The State of The State” to the Assembly today.
The House is very proud of your numerous achievements even within 100 days. Morning shows the day.”
Alagbada called on the people for cooperation with present government, urging the electorate to reelect President Mohammadu Buhari and other All Progressive Congress, (APC) candidates in the coming general elections.
The House later adjourned for plenary to Tuesday
