Fatai Adams emerges Ondo PDP chairman as party inaugurates new state exco

A former Deputy State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo State, Hon Fatai Adekanye Adams, has emerged the new State Chairman of the party; pledging to unite the party for victory at the forthcoming October 10 governorship election.

These were contained in a statement by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Mr Kennedy Ikantu Peretei.

The statement said that Adam’s emergence as PDP State Chairman and inauguration of a 39-Member new State Executive Committee were the outcome of the party’s State Congress held at Solton Hotels, Ijapo Estate, Akure the state capital, on Tuesday, 4th August, 2020.

It said: “At the end of voting, Hon. Fatai Adams polled 1,343 votes  to clinch the top PDP office in the State, while his challenger,  Arole Dennis Alonge polled 369 votes.”

Of the 39 State Executive Committee positions, 37 were resolved through consensus while only two were contested – the State Chairmanship and Deputy Chairmanship positions, it added.

According to the statement: “Apostle Tola Alabere also emerged as the new State Deputy Chairman. He defeated Dr. Benson Eniku who contested the position with him.

“The swearing-in of the new Executive Committee was graced by the immediate past State Chairman, Engr. Clement Faboyede, the PDP Flagbearer for the 10th October, 2020 Gubernatorial Election, Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, Board of Trustee Member, Ambassador Omolade Oluwateru, Chairman Council of Elders, Dr. Tayo Dairo and many PDP supporters who kept vigil to witness the event.

“In his acceptance speech, Fatai Adams, who is a former Member of the Ondo State House of Assembly and immediate past State Deputy Chairman, thanked the Delegates for their support and the Party leadership that has provided him the opportunity to serve.

“He promised to unite the party for victory at the forthcoming gubernatorial elections.

“The atmosphere was charged and party faithfuls left nobody in doubt as to their readiness to change the face of Ondo State Government House, come October 10, 2020.”
