Family of slain Methodist Knight demands justice

Mr. Ayodele Karigidi, son of the knight of John Wesley Methodist Church, Sir Christopher Karigidi, who was gruesomely murdered by unknown assailants, has appealed to the government and security agencies to ensure that his father’s killers are brought to book.

Ayodele who spoke on behalf of his family during a condolence visit by members of the Ondo State House of Assembly, and Methodist’s family, at their family house at Ode Irele, described the misfortune as a vacuum no one could fill. .

The deceased, prior to his death was a retired principal of Comprehensive High School Irele, a Lay President and a knight at the Methodist Church Igbobini Diocese in Irele LGA.

He was shot on the early hours of December. 2, through the window of his residence.

Earlier, Hon. Edamisan Ademola, representing Irele Constituency at the Ondo State House of Assembly, while condoling with the family, said Ondo lawmakers would work in partnership with security agencies to ensure the perpetrators of the heinous crime were fished out and brought to justice.

Ademola also advised that residents should be security conscious and vigilant in reporting any strange movement and people to the police.

“Members of the House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun condemn the gruesome murder of Sir Karigidi in its entirety; this is very sad and pathetic to kill someone in this heartless manner.

“As a representative of the people, we will ensure this kind of heinous crime never reoccurs and we would partner with security agencies to bring perpetrators to book.

“I urge the family to take solace in God and the residents to always be vigilant and security conscious to report any strange occurrence to the police for further actions,” Ademola said.

Similarly, the Methodist Bishop of Owo Diocese, Rt. Rev. Bishop Solomon Abayomi, expressed that Karigi’s death was a rude shock both to him and the entire Methodist family, describing the deceased as a man whose heart was sold to his Maker in total service.

“He was a man of integrity and he served well in God’s vineyard, and his death was a rude shock to all the Christian body, yet, God knows everything and will repose his soul,” he said.

The deceased, aged 62, left behind a middle-aged wife, and five children.
